Mtn. bike trail under consideration(2 posts)

Mtn. bike trail under considerationMikeB106

I'm in the process of turning an old hiking trail in DeSoto State Park (in DeKalb County, AL) into a mtn. bike trail. I am also looking into the possibility of hooking up with an old trail at DeSoto Falls, 5 miles away, via a power line R.O.W.(with a few road sections).

The total length would be about 6 miles if the State Park and Falls area were linked up.

I thought this forum would be a good place to get some info on the trail design... how wide, how steep a grade can I use, etc., etc. Since I'm not a mtn. biker myself, I thought I'd get some input from the folks who ride. Let me have it!

You can post it here, but please send me the same info in an email as well.

Thanks,
