| tutorial sign needed for beginners riding down hill | sick4surf Nov 30, 2003 1:35 PM | | the problem: beginners skidding down hills accelerates erosion.
the solution: sign at the top of hill "ride it don't slide it" with few words describing descending technique.
land manager insists re-routing is not an option. we already installed rolling grade dips etc.
anyone do any similar interperative trail signs to illustrate and describe technique? need wording that is short, to the point and easily understood. any suggestions for wording or graphics?
anyone do any other signs to help with trail riding skills or ettiquette?

| Head over to the Passion board... | Ken in KC. Dec 1, 2003 2:39 PM | | and page "Screampint". She is extremely familiar with intererative trails. COPMOBA (Fruita/Grand Junction advocacy organization) developed a trail called Rustler's Loop whihc included a section on descending, as I recall.

| re: tutorial sign needed for beginners riding down hill | ferday Dec 15, 2003 7:22 PM | | some of the best trails around here (alberta/BC) are ruined or need serious maintenance every couple of years because of skidding/people who are riding above their skill level.
it's a double sided issue, i don't want to keep people off of the trails for any reason, but it sucks when it seems to be the 'regulars' that are wasting their time doing trail maintenance when they are not degrading the trails (as quickly).
i don't think anyone will pay attention to any signs. in fact, i'm almost positive that not a single person will. that's life. |
