Hello to all who ride in Mt Tam State Park:
I received a ticked on Miwok trail last month for riding on the trail. The officer indicated on the ticket that it was an infraction. When the fine came in the mail, it was for $341. I went to court to schedule a hearing, and the clerk told me it had been upped to a misdemeanor! When I went to court to plead not guilty, the judge asked me if I wanted to have a jury trial! I was like "time out judge, I was on a bicycle!" He agreed to lower it back to an infraction (the difference being that you can't be put in the cooler for an infraction), but raised the fine to $441! For reference, the case before me was a guy who got busted with weed in his car and he paid around $300. Now I have a court date in January. So be careful out there. Anybody have a story about what the fines are in the Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD)?

Yeah, it doesn't get more criminal than riding a bike, does it?

How come the the two U.S. metro areas that seem to be home for the bulk of the mountain biking's illuminati (the Bay Area and Boulder) also have the worst trail access issues?
