| Schwinn Bikes.... Fox Vanilla | jonny Oct 18, 2001 1:55 PM | | Hellop everyone, i was contemplating whether i should get the schwinn rocket 88 stage 4 for 599 with magnums and fox vanilla coil shok, or for 649 get the schwinn moab disc with sx-e's and no rear suspension? i want to know if it is worth getting the rocket, or if its not worth the extra weight that the moab WOULDNT have. because i know the rear shock would add a lot of weight, abd if the shock isnt that good to begin with, i was wondering if its worth geting that bike.
im not putting it into consideration with front suspension, because i have manitou mars elite that i would replace them with anyways. THANKS!!!!!!! |
| Scrap the Schwinn totally........... | heff® Oct 18, 2001 3:04 PM | | With the sale of Schwinn and GT to Pacific Bicycles, your warranty will be worthless within a year, and impossible to get any action on now. Consider you spend $650 on the Moab, and there's a bad weld, or you crash hard and bend the frame. You take it back to your shop, they send it in for warrantee, and now you're on the same waiting list as other Schwinn riders who've been waiting months for a warranty replacement.
Start looking at other brands. Jamis makes great bikes in the same price range, many with better components.
If you're going full suspension, stay away from the ones under a grand anyway, they're generally not worth the money.....heavy, low end parts, the usual.
Not really trying to trash your choice, I just don't want to see you either get stuck with no bike, or with a bike that Costco will be selling for half that price in 6 months.
