Can I swap 00-01 lowers onto my '99 SX-R??(3 posts)

Can I swap 00-01 lowers onto my '99 SX-R??BamBam

I have a '99 SX-R with the 'old-style' MN disc mounts. Can I swap the lowers off, say a '00 SX-LE, onto this fork? I notice the 2000 and later SX's have the adjusting knobs on the opposite leg of the 99 models. Any issues here?

Basically, I went to mount my Avid discs and found out that I need the newer mount. Let me know your experience-

Thanx

The TPC assembly changed sides, as you noticed. This means that the bolt sizes ALSO changed sides, on the bottoms of the legs. There might be an adapter available, I seem to remember one being made commercially, or you could make one yourself.

Formula (Bad Italian disc brakes) and Manitou had a tentative partnership in early development of disc brakes. you'll notice that the IS brake caliper will fit on the tabs, but when you put on the wheel , the rotor hits the caliper. What you need to do is order the adapter from Formula USA, www.formulausa.com as well as the larger 175mm rotor from Avid. Had the same problem on an old x-vert.
