Z1 MCR bottom out...(4 posts)

Z1 MCR bottom out...Freaky Letta
Oct 21, 2001 3:05 PM
hey,
I just hooked up a new 2001 Marzocchi Z1 MCR. I have the preload set all the way positive, and I still can bottom it out just bouncing aroud in my driveway. I only weigh 160, maybe 170 lbs max with full riding gear, so I would assume that I'm not too heavy for the stock spring. I only have had time to actaully ride a trail with it once, and I didn't notice it bottoming, but I didn't get too crazy, if I can bottom it from lifting the front end and then coming back down, what would happen off of a 6' drop? Please tell me what's up. Thanks
john
re: Z1 MCR bottom out...needs more oil

Not enough oil inside. Need to have oil level 50-55mm, and the manual should tell how to, or their webpage as well.

Yeah check your oil level! I stripped mine and refilled myself with the instructions from the webpage. Dont buy LBS oil, get it from a motorcycle shop, GOLDEN SPECTRO CARTIDGE FORK FLUID in the 7.5wt. Its what Marz use! About $9 for a quart.

my '01 z1 mcr qr20 has been bottoming out lately off of drops so i took her apart. i found that the white rings are destroyed(as in many pieces) so i am going to put in new oil and some new rings. i checked the website and they say to replace the rings(duh) but the oil def has to be too low. we have the same prob but i am 210 lbs and have been riding the fork heavily since april 2001. up till now its been a great fork, and i assume that when i am done with it that it will run just as good as before.
