| Manitou Fork Probleem | SPOKE Dec 18, 2001 9:38 PM | | I just finished changing the spring on my 2000 Manitou SX LT fork, and for some weird reason (voices in my head told me to), I unscrewed the top of the other stanchion...the compession damping side. As soon as I turned it about a half-turn, it started sputtering oil out from underneath the bolt (?) I was turning. For some reason I decided this was a good thing, because I remembered reading something about these forks having to be "burped" periodically, so I assumed that was what was happening. Then I unscrewed the bolt the whole way, and pulled out the assembly to look at it. Mistake. When I put everything back together, the fork makes a 'whoosh' sound. |

Check you got the topcap seated right, it could be dirt stopping the seal and letting air escape.
