| in my neck of the woods, duke means.... | lawn sausage Dec 19, 2001 2:20 PM | | crap, feces, turd, etc. Is this just slang in my area or is this nation-wide? If it is nation-wide why did Rockshox name their fork such a thing? |
| re: in my neck of the woods, duke means.... | Clutch Dec 19, 2001 2:54 PM | | I don't know what part of the world you're in but round here in America the Duke is John Wayne pure and simple symbol of bravado and getting the job done. There's also El Duque (Orlando Hernandez) the master of the art of pitching. Take your pick. |
| Where you at? | Sofa King Wee Todd Id Dec 19, 2001 2:57 PM | | I'm in Ontario, and although Duke is not a typical word used for a pinched loaf, I certainly have heard it several times. I find me and Judy have to Duke after dropping too much Sid on the farm behind the Psylos. Later, I gotta Jett |

| You Say Tom-ay-to They Say Toe-mah-toe... | xc-baby Dec 19, 2001 7:43 PM | | Maybe a Pronunciation Problem is causing this?
Do you think "Duke" is pronounced "dooh-key"?
I believe the correct pronunciation is "Doohk" or if you are british, "Dew-hk"
Funny anyway... |
| A friend from Idaho used it the same way. | Matno Dec 19, 2001 8:18 PM | | You could always tell when he was mad because he would yell out, "Piece of Duke!!!" Actually caught on among several American friends living in Germany together. Really funny when the Germans started saying it... |
| In my house Rock Shox... | POG Dec 19, 2001 9:24 PM | | means crap, feces, turd, etc., so perhaps this is a "truth in advertising" thing required by the government. After my experience with the 98 SID no RS product will EVER sully my bike. |

| re: in my neck of the woods, duke means.... | SizzayYell Dec 20, 2001 11:58 AM | | I think it comes down to the spelling: "dook" = crap, feces. turd, etc. whereas "duke" = John Wayne, Dukes of Hazzard, etc. |
