Two big things you need to know about fitting a used shock. The bikes neck, (headset) diameter and length. The diameter, (hole the shock steering tube runs inside will be either 1" or 1 1/8". (1 1/8" is the standard for most mountain bike parts. The other important issue is the neck length the shocks steering tube need to be. This can vary greatly between bikes. The shocks steering tube need to be long enough to run through your bikes headset and have enough tube left over to mount your handlebar headset and any spacers you have to set it's height. Measure your current shock steering tube.. (from the very top cap cover above where your handlebars mount to the steering tube to the bottom part of that same tube. If the used shock is longer that's ok...you just cut that off with a saw. (measure twice cut once...) If its considerably shorter than what you have now bail out...it won't work. good luck!
