Marzocchi Z.2 Atom 80 Race....Where's the 80mm? and damping(3 posts)

Marzocchi Z.2 Atom 80 Race....Where's the 80mm? and dampingBob™

Hi all,

I received my 2001 Atom 80 race yesterday and noticed that I'm only able to get 62mm of travel out of it. Is this an oil height issue? Or should I expect to get more travel after the fork "breaks in" for a while?

Also the fork seems overdamped. The rebound is very slow, even with the knob set for minimum damping. Could this be an oil height issue as well?

I know this fork gets great reviews, I think mine just needs some tinkering to get it set up. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

If the stock springs are right for your body weight, them most likely you have too much oil inside the fork and it's preventing it from reaching full travel. Cheque the Marzocchi website for data on the springs and oil levels.

There is some break-in time required, but you should still be getting more than 62mm. Check the oil levels first, that's the most likely culprit.
