| Is travel adjustable on a 99 marzocchi z-1? | BrokenBones? Feb 18, 2002 10:56 AM | | I had one given to me that appears to be in good condition. I don't know the travel now or if it is adjustable. Any input out there?

| Travel adjustment on '99 Z1... | andy f. Feb 18, 2002 12:08 PM | | The '99 Z1 BAM came with travel set at 5". There were other Z1 models besides the BAM that year, and i'm not sure if the following is true for those other forks. Anyhow, shorter main springs and longer negative springs can be purchased to reduce travel to 4". Some people just replaced the negative springs but that option preloads the longer main springs quite a bit and I think the fork just didn't ride as well as it did with both sets of springs replaced. I paid $60 for the spring kit for mine then sold the 5" travel springs for $30. |
| clarification on models... | zedro Feb 18, 2002 12:46 PM | | there were 3 Z1 models in '99: the Z1BAM and Dropoff both can be adjusted down to 4" using the spring kits as mentioned above; the Z1 Alloy has 4" max and can be lowered to 3" again with specific spring kits |
| My bad, upon further inspection 2000, z1,CR........ | BrokenBones? Feb 19, 2002 6:59 AM | | only other markings is "open bath on lower legs". Should have looked closer the first time and not trusted soon to be 40 memory.
