Will changing travel on Fox Fork FLOAT affect it's "feel"?"(1 post)

Will changing travel on Fox Fork FLOAT affect it's "feel"?"John

My Fox Fork FLOAT RLC came set at 100mm, and I have been wondering if changing it to 80mm will make a difference in the quality of the travel/setup. I have to run under 70 psi int the air leg in order to get a plush travel out of it, otherwise it is to stiff, and bounces over small obstacles instead of absorbing the hit.
Running under 70 psi also lets the negative spring collapse the fork about 10mm, with no weight on it. It seems the fork was built for heavy riders in mind, I weigh 160, maybe 167 lbs with all my gear. I run ZERO compression damping, and almost MAX rebound damping to get a plush, responsive travel, as well as the low air pressure, but it still isn't as good as my Z1 MCR.
Would the travel change, using the plastic insert that came with the fork make a difference? What about a oil weight change in the damping unit? Does anyone know if Fox makes a different negative spring, less strength? Hope someone can give me some straightr answers, I don't want to needlessly spend $14 on Fox Fluid just to change the travel.
