| Manitou SX-R with lockout overhall.....Please help:) | Brian Green Feb 19, 2002 2:33 PM | | I need some real help guys. I overhalled my SX-R...cleaned it ALL up with clean lint free rags, dried it up with new lint free rags, gresed it all up, and put extra grease just in case, put it all together and then I put the oil in. But here's the problem!!..When I put the lockout back in and tightened it, the fork was completely locked out!! I took out oil little by little with a sucking thing(I'm not sure what it's called) and tighned it again after ever little bit of oil I took out and it was still locked up. After 30 min. of doing this, It finally loosened up, but now the lockout doesn't work. So I squirt a little more oil in and the lockout didn't work. I spent 2 days trying to get it right....Can someone please tell what I'm going wrong, or how to do it, and if there is an exact amount of mililiters of oil you should put in? If ANYONE can help please do. Thankx Alot! |

There might be something wrong with the valve in the lock-out assembly - jammed with grease or something, but I'm no expert. Look at the .pdf diagram to make sure it looks the same and is assembled correctly or take it to an LBS. |
| I too have had problems with the lockout kit on the SX-R. The 1st one bust and then the 2nd one too ( this was installed by a manitou race technician....). I think you should check that the seals survived being pushed into the fork leg. if the sea´ls are bust the lockout won't function. | roger seal Feb 21, 2002 6:18 AM | | approved |
