Alright! let's talk Cane Creek again!Shylock

So, I'm reading the latest Mountainbike magazine buyers guide in which the editors say the Sugar 3 + (or whatever Sugar it is ) was hindered by its Cane Creek shock, and that such was the case even when they tried the flagships of the Cane Creek product line -- the AD 12 and the Cloud 9.

I realize this could be an issue of the particular frame not mating well with this particular type of air shock, and I also realize Mountainbike isn't the most reliable or honest bunch of guys. but this review still has me curious, as I'd like to get a new shock for My el Fuego in the next week or so and was pretty much set on getting the Cloud 9.

So....Cane Creek owners! Tell me honestly: do the Cane Creek AD 12 or Cloud 9 ride as well as the Float R, or will I be trading performance for user servicability and reliability?

Thanks for your input

Hey, I use the Cane Creek AD-12 on my Truth and it feels smoother than my Float RC that was on it before. Plus the shock is completely field serviceable whereas the Float must be returned to Fox for repairs (unless its just the seals). I saw the same article and had the same thoughts as you but I like my Cane Creek too much. And besides, it's only their opinion. The Cloud has enough adjustments that you can dial it in to suit your riding style and it has the one button "firm" feature.

If you go on the product reviews, the Cane Creek has very high ratings by a lot of riders who swear by the shock. Nuff said .....

I recently switched from a Float RC to the Cloud 9 (also on a Truth), and was fairly surprised at how much plusher the Cloud 9 felt (it's larger volume, but a few grams lighter). I was also surprised by the Mt. Bike article comments. In any case, it was one of those upgrades that left no doubt in my mind as to its validity. I was a bit concerned with the lack of solid lockout on the Cloud 9, as I used it quite a bit on the Float, but the "pseudo-lockout" on the Cloud 9 certainly gets the job done (basically leaving only a few mm of movement when mashing the pedals).

There's no doubt in my mind that my AD12 is a better shock on my SC Superlight than the Float RC it replaced.
Thanks alot, everyone...Shylock

I have a Sugar plus with a CCAD5 on it and couldnt be more pleased. This is the third CC shock I have owned, and all of them have been excellent. I have also owned a RS Deluxe (pos),A RS coupe Deluxe (SAME), a Stratos XC Pro (excellent, but not user serviceable), a Stratos Helix expert(Good, but unreliable). So when I tell you that the Cane Creek AD5 is so good, that I cant imagine an AD12 or Cloud nine being better, I know from whence I speak. Shylock, let me know if that Cloud nine is worth the money.
