Shocks , uncut ? (5 posts)
| Shocks , uncut ? | john Feb 22, 2002 6:52 AM | | Being new, don't know what you mean by "uncut". I assume uncut is the way you get them from the factory, and "cut" possibly being v-brake bosses cut off(on a disc set up) and blended in ? If so, anything else? I just bought an NRS and their don't look like many areas for weight reduction except for the thing that pedals it.... |
| AFAIK, "uncut" only refers to an uncut steerer tube.... | AndyH Feb 22, 2002 6:58 AM | | ...forks come from the factory with a long steerer tube to accomodate bikes with different head-tube lengths. The fork steerer tube needs to be cut (hacksaw or pipe-cutter) to fit your bike.
People will often measure the weight of the fork with an "uncut" steerer tube. Once you cut it for your bike, you can expect the fork to weigh a bit less as you've removed some material from he fork. |
