Hang a bike upside down(4 posts)

Hang a bike upside downPhesterAZ

Well, two weeks ago I crashed and broke my collar bone (for the fifth time no less). Since I won't need my bike for a while I want to hang it in my garage.

My question is, is it bad for the fork to be suspended upside down for an extended period? I have an RS Judy Race and I don't want it hosed when I am healed.
not a problem. nmderby

OUCH !!!!! 5x collarbone break, man, sorry to hear THAT...dunno 'bout the RS, but I think I remember reading somewhere (I have a Manitou SX-R) that you could lose a small amount of oil dripping out the top of leg if inverted for a length of time - no biggie....you might wanna consider putting cardboard or something under fork area, but I don't think there's any real harm in hanging yer bike upside down (especially considering the beating it takes when ya ride it...hanging upside down is nothin')....
...hope ya heal quick :)

I don't know much about your fork, but i hang my marzocchi z.2 on a wall vertically by the front wheel so all the oil moves to the top of the fork. When i take it down, it takes a few compressions to get the oil back to flowin so it feels like it's undamped for alittle while, but it gets to normal pretty quick.
