looking into new Xc/freeride fork...need some help fastMatt

I live in San Diego,

Im looking into a new fork to replace my 2000 Sid Sl. I want something a little more beefier and maybe even a little more travel. Im looking into 2002 RS Pyslo SL...Manitou Black 80-100 or maybe a Marzocchi something. Im not really sure at all. I still want something semi-light becuase I will be doing some climbing. Whats your opinion??? Thank you for any help. I would like to get this fork before the season gets rolling...

are you racin, if not try a small triple clamp, or a burly single crown. I highly suggest marzocchi. my xc/freeride currently has a 4" triple clamp. It only weighs about 4lbs, probly less. most important for climbs is how stiff it is (how much it bobs). I might try an old jr. t, they had 4-5 inch travel (depending on year) and were triple clamp. You can probably get one for less than 225 shiped if you look.

If you want a single crown try a psylo. I know many people do not like rock shox (like me). Get an sl, not pro or xc, they are a waste of money. the nice thing about the psylo is that if you make it harder to press down (rebound i think, loosin words) it is nearly solid. It will be hell of a climber. You can also change travel 3-5. I am not sure if it can handle freeriding though.

another single crown that has same/ similar features is the manitou black series. those are probably nicer.

sorry i can't give much help, i am a person that takes the 9 lb monster t and gets stronger. I have more fun on the way down anyway.

When my 80mm Sid died, I ended up with a 100mm Duke SL. It took a bit to run in, not a bad thing realy. Well I found that I could go quicker down hills and jump larger, infact it's pretty hard to find the Dukes limits riding XC. As for ups, my GT still goes up the steepest hills. I really like it, and it's simple to tune plus it dosn't have useless expensive knobs all over it.

Dont know about better as I havent riddem one but yes, a Duke will be stronger than your Sid and no, they dont have adjustable travel. Click here for the specs on the Duke Range.

I would look strongly at the Fox Float. It's much more solid fork than that SID and I much prefer the damping over the Psylo SL I had before. It's reasonably light and super stiff.

I agree. The fox float 80 is a great deal on a super strong fork. Most people have yet to realize that if you buy the float 80, you can upgrade this fork AT NO COST and KEEPING THE WARRANTY to be a true 100 mmm travel fork. The instructions are all part of the fox online tech manuals.....
Sure, it's a bit more money for the fork....but if you freeriding, the 32mm stanchions can't be beat!

Rock who????
