Can anyone give me a difficulty rating for rebuilding a Sid XC?
SID without negative spring? You can do it!chrisJohn

If so, it's easier than you think. I've pulled my '00 SID XC apart several times, first to switch out the "all travel" spacer to get 80MM of travel, then twice more just doing routine maintenance. Angry Asian covers the SID XC on his site, just follow the instructions. Biggest issue is getting the retaining ring back in the fork. What I did was place one section of the ring in the groove of the stancion, then chase it around with a flat head screwdriver.

One piece of advice is do it on a table. I did mine on the kitchen counter top, and ended up with lowers in the sink. Don't waste money on bicycle specific fork oil either, run by your local motorcycle dealer and pick up some 5/10 wt fork oil for a quarter of the price.
