HELP! AAsian? fork guys? Can I swap qr20 lowers from Supr Tedgy

(2001 SuperT) with the Std. QR lowers from my 2000 Z1-CR....?

They look to be pretty much the same dimensions from the outside...

I wanna keep the badass std QR wheels etc on my bike for now, but i just got this fork, i wanna put the super t's QR20 lowers on the Z1 CR on my Chuck FS..,

I am concerned about the issue of bushing support/size/placement in the Z1-CR lowers vs the bushings in the SuperT Pro lowers....will the Z1-CR lowers/bushings be able to support the longer travel that the Super T provides & are the bushings in the lowers ofthese forks the same size..(!?) & in the same or similar positions to allow this swap...?

thanks for all the help gents!

...dying to try this setup on both bikes...

the 01 SuperT is a 6" fork and the 2000 Z1 maxxes out at 5". Even though the sliders look identicle from the outside I'm pretty sure they are different inside....

but you should probably wait for someone who knows for sure to pipe up ;)

if any...i assume there might be differences in where the bushings are placed in the fork or the size of the bushings...

sheeit...........anyone got a set of SuperT compatible Lowers that have Std QR drops.... for sale..... preferably in tit's shape & cheeeep!!!

the base of the fork where the cartridges sit are lower on the SuperT. So when you install the z1 lowers, it'll raise everything by an inch, meaning you loose an inch of bushing overlap, which is very very bad. (and thats ignoring any other possible incompatibilities)

In fact you wont find any compatible lowers with qr's unless you get the 2001 JrT lowers, but then you have to give up the cartridges and top caps in favour of the JrT damping rods and top caps. Then you'll have a set of useless and $$$ lowers and cartridges that only the 2001 SuperT can take.

Just rebuild the damn wheel with a 20mm hub already!

why would i have to give up the rods & top caps if all i am doing is bolting up a different set of lower sliders that are the same/(but possibly for bushing placement) bolt on the exactly same way, as the originals....?

how does this affect the top caps & sliders...>??

I see no difference in the lowers of the '01 SuperT to the '00 Z1-CR,
& it appears that they will easily bolt up but i am afraid that the lowers will not support the uppers at full extension if there is a bushing difference between the forks....

the machining at the bottom of the fork is different for cartridge type forks (SuperT), and non-cartridge type (JrT). Therefor with '01 JrT lowers, you'll need '00 JrT internals. Since the internals have no adjustment rods, you'll need new (non-cartridge type) top caps..although it might just involve the preload knob im not certain.

Anyways the difference between the '01 Super lowers and z1s is at the bottom where the cartridge bolts on: it should be deeper on the outside on the z1. Your last statement gives you the reasoning. If your not satisfied with this answer, call Marzocchis tech department...this is what i've been told by marzocchi people.
