| Problem with my 2002 JrT | FlipSide Jun 4, 2002 7:40 AM | | Everyone I discussed with about the smoothness of the travel of the 2002 JrT tells me how smooth it is. One mine, when I compress very quickly the fork, I feel a big "clunk". It is a bit similar to the feeling of Manitou's TPC+ (for those who know) but like 100 times worse. In fact, sometimes my elbow hurts after an urban ride because of the vibration induced by this "clunk". For example everytime I land my front wheel after a wheelie, the hit is very harsh.
My fork is currently at my lbs and my bike mechanic told me the fork is assembled properly and it must be the SSVF valving that does this (the fork does that even with all the springs removed). He suggested me to replace the valve with one from a 2001 JrT to see if it still does the "clunk".
He called Marzocchi and they say the fork should be OK even though they have never seen this before.
What should I do?
1) Send the fork to Marzocchi?
2) Replace with the 2001 valving if it works (i.e.: no more SSVF)
3) Wait until the World Cup at Mont-Sainte-Anne and show my fork to the Marzocchi crew?
Please give me some advice about what to do or about what's wrong if you've encountered this problem before.
Thanks! |
| I'd wait to show it to the Marzocchi crew... | azonicbruce Jun 4, 2002 3:40 PM | | that way they can see firsthand that there IS in fact a problem and will fix it, rather than everyone thinking someone else is wrong or smoking pot. |
| either #1 or #3... | zedro Jun 4, 2002 3:44 PM | | which ever comes first. Forget #2, its not even feasable. Tell your mechanic that the 2002 models are 6.7", and the 2001s are 6", meaning the damper rods are different lengths. |
