| DGC-what's happening with the FOX fork bushing issue? | Viking MD Jun 4, 2002 11:16 AM | | You had posted a while back that after getting your fork back that you had added more oil to the spring side and had reduced the bushing play. Is this method still working for you? |
| ah, the now its there now its gone issue..... | DGC Jun 4, 2002 12:17 PM | | The extra oil is working much better to quiet down the bushing/stancion leg play. I have run 100cc's for awhile, then down to 60 cc's where its at now. I found that 60cc's does about the same thing that 100cc's does, it will also just barely be enough to feed oil up to the seals and foam ring. If the bike sits awhile and you check the looseness with the front brake on rocking technique, then you will feel it slightly with 60cc's, but push down hard a bunch of times and it works the oil back up to the bushings. On the trail I can not feel the play at all anymore. So it has fixed it as far as I'm concerned. I am now trying to deal with an overly tight sticky bushing on the damper side which they say was inside spec range.....bullshit!
I have sanded the stancion bottom with fine 1000 grit paper quite a bit which has lessened this. And I am also gonna do a little drilling inside the damper to open up the high speed compression a bit more sometime soon, for now I am running 130cc's Fox fluid mixed with Golden Spectro 125/150=2.5 wt. of 25cc's and like the feel better. Right now it feels pretty good, but still needs lighter compression IMO. |
