How to make a custom Risse fork guard(2 posts)

How to make a custom Risse fork guardGeeves

I have an '01 Trixxxy and need to make a guard for the stantions.
What is the best material to use? I don't want to spend the money to
order one from Risse, so I'll use my creative side to make one.
I just need a couple of ideas/ direction to go. If anyone has a
picture of what they are using now for their Risse, I'll love to see them. Thanks in advance!!

When I had a champ I made some guards out of pvc pipe. Really easy, just cut the tube to the right length: enough to attach onto the stanchion/dropouts and enough to clear the seal area by half an inch or so. Pick a diameter that will fit snugly around the uppers when the fork is compressed.Diameter is not super strict because you can change it anyway (put it an the oven at low temp until just soft then reform it), but getting it close helps. Decide on what area you want it to cover on the fork and cut away the excess. You could integrate a tab for your disc hose if you were tricky. Trim/shape the corners so it's not so ugly and then figure out a way of attaching it to the stanchions/dropouts, I used hose clamps but that sucked.
