What Fork?(6 posts)

What Fork?CS
Jun 4, 2002 3:16 PM
I'm thinking about getting a suspension fork, I'm currently running a rigid.

I ride Freeride, xc, and some downhill looking for something with 100mm of travel. I weigh 190 with all gear. Was looking at getting a bomber.

I don't really want to spend to much and don't want something with a whole lot of maintenance.

Any sugguestions?

Thank You

You first need to check that your frame will handle a 100mm travel fork. If you have an older 'uncorrected' frame you may find this much travel will lay the angles to far back causing the bike to steer like a barge.
The Psylo XC would be a good choice, as you can dial in the amount of travel to the millimetre, and the spring rate is adjusted too: though you may need a stiffer spring set up than stock. The fork has adjustable rebound damping, is strong and easy to strip/service, and can also be found for quite cheap if you look around.

My bike is designed for a 100mm fork/ and money, I work for a bike shop and get the employee discount so that's not a problem.

I'll check out the psylo xc

thanks for the info

And you're here for advice? Can't someone from your shop answer your questions?
Man I hope the shop you work at isn't near me.
