uzzi sl, vanilla rc rear shock question? (8 posts)
| uzzi sl, vanilla rc rear shock question? | Ivan Aug 8, 2002 11:49 AM | | I have a Intense uzzi sl with a Fox Vanilla rc rear shock. I'm Looking to get the best rear shock for this bike. It's 6.5" eye to eye and 1.5" stroke. I heard about Romic, Stratos, (the 5th element doesn"t make a 6.5" length model). Can anyone tell me about some of these models or do I have the best one for this bike already?
Peace, Ivan |

I would really like a shock without a piggyback reservoir so i can lower my seat more................ |
| Maybe Romic | derby Aug 8, 2002 12:56 PM | | If you currently like to adjust more than a couple of clicks in for slower compression damping with your Vanilla RC on your bike, then the Romic would produce a superior freer acting ride with it's improved speed sensitive compression damping.
If you prefer to run your Vanilla-RC with the compression adjustment set full fast then you have the best shock for your bike now.
The Romic has more compression damping all the way through travel even before adjusting the compression dial in one click from full fast. The Vanilla can compress more freely with it's fastest compression setting for smoother small bump compliance and faster and freer action on bigger hits.
However, at higher big ring speeds, the Romic would probably be a more stable ride than a Vanilla RC on any bike with over five inches of travel including the SL.
I didn't find any improvements testing a Romic on my Tracer, but it's only 4 inch travel, I prefer the Vanilla-R.

| checked Risse? | waynker Aug 8, 2002 2:01 PM | | they have various length/strokes; 6.5/1.5, 7/1.75, 7.25/2, have independant comp and rebound and either piggyback or remote resevoir. |
| checked Risse? | PhoenixKEn Aug 8, 2002 2:25 PM | | Romics do not fit in space provided on an Uzzi Sl. As for Risse i heard that they were crap, along with Stratos. |
| re: uzzi sl, vanilla rc rear shock question? | Butterbean Aug 8, 2002 3:16 PM | | Progressive's model application page shows that they make a 6.5/1.5 5th Element for the Giant DS pro. Did Progressive tell you that it's not made in that size? |

| re: uzzi sl, vanilla rc rear shock question? | ivan Aug 8, 2002 6:17 PM | | Your right . I seen that they have that length. I think went to the Intense listing and noticed that they did not have the Uzzi SL listed so I thought they didn't make it. I going to give them a call tomorrow about the fit for a Uzzi SL. Thanks for the info, Ivan |
