You didn't really think you'd sneak that one past us, did you?

So what's the scoop? I'm very interested to hear your impression of how it stacks up against the stock Sid, since I've never been able to make that comparison with my AD12. Are you going to get any use out of that "lockout" feature?

Cloud nine stuff...TC

Well,
the cloud nine is very good but the lockout wasn't necessary at all on the nrs. i actually asked for an AD12 trade in/upgrade for the NRS and apparently paid for and AD12 but received the cloud nine. Had to crack it open for a peek and cane creek seems to be putting more lube in there than when i got the AD12. I put locktite on the threads of the adjustment knob setscrews after reading some reviews that they fall off and then stuck it on the frame. After a couple of initial rides and a few adjustments to air pressure and damping settings, the shock rides great. Air pressure just at body weight and (i think) rebound damping 2/3 hard, compression 1/2. It looks like is sags a bit when you first sit on it but it never extends past that position during the ride, has no bob (again, it doesn't extend past that few mm sag even when cranking or braking hard) and is amazingly plush. the bike feels much more like a full suspension bike is supposed to feel, but again, no sag. After a couple of rides and realizing that the lockout was totally unnecessary, i took it off and put it on my other bike (where a lockout can actually help) and put my AD12 on the NRS. The AD12 Feels exactly the same as the cloud nine after initial setup with the rebound and compression adjustments set slightly higher. The SID is up for sale on ebay.

in a comparison between the Cloud nine and AD12 on the NRS frame, they function exactly the same and lockout isn't usefull. this is where it lives now.
Good. I just wanted to confirm I wasn't smoking crack...næstep

...over the past few months, because I was almost (99.9%) positive that the AD12 was giving me a much more compliant ride on my NRS that what I remembered from the Sid (which I demoed a year earlier and don't have much experience with).

I still can't believe how soft I can set the compression and still get a no-bob effect (not that I ride it like that — I've got my pressure and damping set up almost identical to yours).

Do you recall what position the air chamber plate was set at inside the Cloud 9's main chamber? I haven't busted open my AD12 yet, but am half-way tempted to experiement with air chamber volume and see what changes that makes.

I didn't get that far into it, just checked the air sleeve for adequate (sp?) lube and that's about it. if you do play with it, report back.
