HI people.
I own a fox fork float rl. It`s set to 80mm.
OK, here`s the story.
At the beginning when it was new I couldn`t get all the 80mm of travel, only like 75mm-70mm. But the performance was good and any click or clunk noise was there.
After 6 months and 615miles I decided to take it apart to take care of the air chamber and put some fresh oil in there. I did it, and also took apart the piston side and put new oil. I used belray, for fox suspension fluid (7wt fork oil) and for the fox float fluid (80wt gear oil).
Everything was fine, I couldn`t get the 80mm (just like when I purchased it), but the performance was superb.
After 60km, I decided to take the air chamber apart to play with the spacer. I put it in 100mm mode, and ride 100mt (just a parkdrive) to see how it felt. But a clunk noise was there when I lift the wheel of the floor. I changed to the 80mm mode again (new oil and fluids). But the clunk was still there. Then in desesperation I took apart the piston side again and put new oil. But the clunk was still there. I decided to live with it, because some posts here said that it was normal, even in 80mm mode for a fox float.
Now I can only get 70mm of travel, and when the fork approaches to 68mm a little click is heared, like the fork is bottoning, but at that point (68mm) are 7mm left to do bottom. So I don`t know what that "click" sound means...
I think that the oil levels are OK. But if there`s any problem differences should be of 5-8cc from the normal level of oil(the level that is in the owner`s manual)
I haven`t contact fox, because I`m not american, and I think that my english is not the best, besides...where I live there`s no fox dealer. So I think that I must take care of my stuffs...

Ps: It`s set at 65psi. No oil leaks, No air leaks.

I think it could be in the amount of fluid you put back in, and I would call Fox and purchase directly the Fox 7wt. its that good. Not every measuring cup is exactly the same, I use a ratio rite from a motorcycle shop. Also, air forks do ramp up much more at the end of the stroke than coil forks do.
I run 150-155cc's and no more or I start loosing the travel. On top of the air piston I put in enough to just cover the piston, which is about 2-3cc's and no more. Wait til winter when you will be off the bike for many weeks and send it in for service also.
As I see all my problem is related to the amount of oils???francisco

I think that I got the solution or "partial" solution for this issue.
Today I was taking it apart, both sides of the fork. And noticed that the in the air chamber, between the srping and the spacer was a little gap, like 1.5mm-1mm. So I decided to put a litlle rubber of 2mm between the spacer and the negative top of the spring.
Then the little "clunk" that the for did when the front wheel was pull of the ground was, but the only way to hear it, was with the ear near the fork.
But there still was a litlle "clunk" when the travel approaches to bottom. So I decided to see what leg was the one with the troubles.
Removed all the damper side, and fill with air the air spring side. No damper (man the fork feels so light, ;) ) Well I noticed that the souds where coming from the air spring.
Put new oil in the damper, put 155cc of oil. And both cluncks were still there, but in the trail they can`t be heard, (just the one that bottoms...that`s logical, isn`t it?)
Conclussions:
The clunk when the front wheel isn`t touching the ground, is because a little gap, between the spacer and the top of the negative spring.
The clunk at the end of the stroke (near bottoming, but 5mm for REAL botomm) is like an "advice" to soft the bottomm of the damper (the one that sounds CLACK, because is metal to metal).

Are this conclusions OK?., Or I`m talking totall bullsh*t...plz I want to know your opinions...I`m not trying to be a fox mechanic, but I love this things...and understand them is very pleasant...
