Fox Float R Rear Shock Slowly Looses Air Overnight...Zag

My rear shock looses quite a bit of air pressure overnight. Does this sound like something that is user serviceable, or does it need to go back to Fox?
If it is fairly new, Fox had a recall on...timbo

.... some of their Float R and RC shocks back in late 2001 and early 2002. Go to the website, and take a look. I have a RC on my Jekyll, and it was losing air overnight as well. Simple seal replacement, with MPEGs from the Fox website to show you how it is done. It was easy and took maybe 15 to 20 minutes to do. Best grease is "Slick Honey"
Might fix your problem. My shock is at 200 PSI and it keeps it for weeks, and I ride almost every day.
Good Luck.

Sounds like a bad seal. The problem fox was having with the '02 float series shocks was that they would lose air when active(moving) but would hold air fine when static (not moving). Your problem is the other way around, or more likely it just loses air all the time.

Replacing the seals is a piece of cake and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. Find a dental pick if you can it will make pulling out the old seals easier.

And if it's not new have you kept up with the standard air chamber maintenance (lube and clean the seals)? I'm curious about that since I had a '00 float that I never serviced and it never leaked then I got an '02 and it had the bad seal. The rubber compound is noticeably different in the replacement from the original.

Well, it's sort of a long story. But I got it in late summer of 1999, so I think its a 1999. I have never maintained it, but I have only used it 3 times. It came off a shop demo bike. I bought a bunch of upgrades for my bike to lighten it up a bit (lost about 4 pounds total), and the shop offered to trade me straight across for my Vanilla coil. It was the first air shock I ever had (and the only one for that matter), so at the time I thought the air loss was normal. Anyway, I only rode the bike three times before I was transferred to Norway on a job assignment, so I put the bike in storage and it's been there ever since. I asked the question because I am thinking of having the shock shipped over here to me, and I am wondering if it's something that I can fix myself. I figure I will have to replace the seals anyway because it's been stored so long, so if that will fix the problem, then there's no problem.
