02 X-Fly top out helpMTBKR

I just got through with an oil change and disaasembly on my 2002 X-fly 100. Now it slightly tops out with the rebound set any less than 12 turns in from full fast. I do remember a short spring that fell out of the sliders when I inverted the unit. I don't remember which side it came from. Could this be my problem, if so which side does the spring go into? Thanks.

rebound springs dropped off either the damper cartridge or the pumping rod when you pulled it apart. There should be one short rebound spring in each each side of the fork. For the right leg the rebound spring should be located on the cartridge, for the left it should be on the pumping rod. Reassembling the fork with one missing would deffinately increase the top out feel as the springs are supposed to cushion the top out. You'll need to disassemble the fork again, determine which side is missing the spring and reinstall it. This does require the removal of both the cartridge and the pumping rod from the stantions.
