5th element help please(4 posts)

5th element help pleasefat and slow old Ugly

Okay, here's the deal: I have a 2002.5 Bullit with a 5th element shock. I set it up to the recommended settings for my weight (160). It rides well but is seems quite harsh on bigger hits (4+). I would like to balance the no-bob with a plush feel on bigger hits. I know this is possible put I just can't seem to get it right. Is this a high-speed compression adjustment, an air volume adjustment? any help would be really appreciated. also, if Larry from progressive reads this, can you post your e-mail so I can e-mail you with questions. cheers, uofs

Try lowering the air pressure you normally run just a little and also turning your ending stroke adjustment out (counter clockwise) a turn or two. If it bobs at that point, turn your beginnig stroke adjustment in (clockwise) a little.

Sorry but I had that backwards...lower your air pressure but turn out the BEGINNING strike adjuster a little and turn in your Ending stroke adjuster if it feels like it's now bottoming out. The air pressure and beginning stroke affect spike and air volume and ending stroke affect bottoming. If after you lower air pressure it sags too much then increase spring preload a little. hope this helps!!
