2002 NRS vs 2001 nrs w/AD12JACO

if you could have it either way, what would you do?
should i get a brand new 2002 nrs air frame or just stick to my 2001 nrs 1 and upgrade the rear shock from the sid to a cane creek AD12? of course getting the new frame plus the upgrade would be the best of both worlds but thats not possible.
i know this sounds like an imbalanced question but im sure some nrs users, specially those who earlier suggested the AD12 shock upgrade might have some interesting opinions.
You already have the '01 model?næstep

I don't think the 2002 has enough changes to justify the switch, unless you have some other compelling reason.

From '01 to '02, they made that change to the chainstay that you already know about, and they slightly modified the head tube — it's machined a just a little bit deeper to allow deeper internal headset cups to be pressed in. If, for instance, you tried to press an FSA Orbit ZS headset into your '01 frame, you'd have to ask FSA for shallower cups (they're available, I had to get some) because the standard cups would bottom out before fully seating.

And for '02, the Air frame is painted, not anodized (like the '01 Air was), so getting the Air frame doesn't buy you anything.

I'd stick with the '01 and do the AD12 upgrade.

to be honest, apart from the incapacitating shock problem, theres rear wheel rub when pedaling hard on tecnical uphills which kinda bugs me but i guess this is not enough to warrant a frame change. for $175 can creek will switch shcks for an AD12 which is a great deal (only until Oct.31/2002) and then in a year or two i can get the frame i always wanted, something like a 100x or so.
Wheel flex from Formula hub?næstep

Are you using the Formula "alloy hub", or did you get a bike with the XT's? A few NRS owners were blaming their chainstay rub on flexy wheels due to the hubs.

no, since i bought the frameset i have since used a sun ringle rpm lite wheel that had the worst rear hub so i got a hand built 517/xtr which is perfectly true. i have only about 2mm clearance on the left and about 11mm on the right! im pretty sure everything is set up correctly and that the frame is not bent. im now hoping switching from panaracer fire xc 2.1 in the rear to a conti survival will help some with the rub. i hear these might be somewhat thinner.
