Older Forks(2 posts)

I may have the opportunity to buy a hardly used Manitou Xvert R Dual Crown. My concern is maintenance. How hard is it to find parts for this fork? I know Rock Shox only supports 2-3 years back. This fork is almost 4 years old, how is Manitou with support?

They are great with support, I don't know if they have a policy of supporting parts only dating back so far, but from what I can tell parts are so interchangeable in the early and current tpc range anyway, especially at that 100mm travel range with regards to damper parts and wotnot. It's like the construction of those older xvert forks and other 100mm only differed in their configurations. If it's hardly used then maintenance probably isn't much of an issue anyway, just take it easy when torquing up the rebound damper foot bolt as it is easy to pull the threaded section of the end of the damper rod. BTW I hope it is cheap as there are heaps of closeout forks out there that can do the job of an xvert r better.
