| Noisy Romic - what can I do?? | altoid Oct 20, 2002 4:24 PM | | So here's the deal, I have a Romic that is @ 2 mos old and it makes this annoying squish'slurp type sound every time i hit anything bigger than a golf ball. spring weight is correct w/ the right amount of sag and I've played around w/ different comp/rebound settings and the noise is still there. With spring removed the shock feels smooth and not harsh, it just makes this loud annoying sound every other pedal stroke. Talked w/ Romic tech guys and they said some noise is coomon due to the dual tube valving, but this is ridiculous - nobody wants to ride w/ me w/ this noise maker of a shock. Any ideas or is everyone else who is running Romic shocks dealing w/ this noise?? Thanks and happy trails |
| It should not make slurping noises... | Sunny Oct 20, 2002 7:26 PM | | The sound usually means air has been sucked into the damper. Take the damper off the bike, remove the shock, and hold the damper in a vertical position (damper body on bottom). Now push down on the shaft end. If there is air in the damper, the first bit of compression will see very little resistance (due to the air bubble) until the piston hits the oil.
Who did you talked to at Romic? |
