| Cold Six Comp | Porky Oct 21, 2002 11:37 AM | | Now that the colder times are upon us, my 2002 manitou six comp fork decides that it doesn't want to work on the cool fall trail rides, although when it is warm inside my house it works perfectlly??? If anyone knows what is happening please tell me! |
| elastomers/mcu hardening up.... | TC Oct 21, 2002 12:54 PM | | I don't know if that fork has the elastomer/MCU (multi cell urethane) as part of the spring assembly the way the SIX deluxe has, had but when they get cold they turn into rocks. if yours doesn't have mcu's then the viscosity of the oil may be too heavy. |
| TC is correct, the MCU in the fork is stiffening up... | Squash Oct 22, 2002 2:26 PM | | as it gets cold. That is the one draw back to the MCU/Coil combination spring. As the temperature gets lower the MCU will stiffen up until it gets to the point of becoming a ROCK. The stiffening process starts at anything much below 45 degrees. Not much ou can do about it.
