Why does the new Marathon weight so much more then the 2002?mountainbiker2

From what I can tell is that the 2003 Marathon weights 8 ounces more. What that about?
you're probably looking at the coil spring Marathongonzostrike

this year (2003), Marz is selling the Marathon S, which basically is the new Atom Race 100 -- HSCV damping, ETA, 4" travel coil/oil. I'm sure that's the weight you're talking about.

try looking at the air sprung Marathon weights. you'll probably find what you're looking for.
Well, actually.....Ventanarama

I haven't verified this one myself, but a couple of people have posted that the new Marathon SL is 3.9lbs, which would mean he's correct (1/2lb heavier than last year). That wouldn't suprise me as I have verified the weight on the Marathon S as 4.36lbs, heavier than the Atom Race.

I downloaded the 03 techmanual , to check the axel-crown lenghts on the 03forks.
Bummer ; the 2003 Z1s/jrT/SuperT are 15mm longer axel-crown !
And the 03 SuperT is suposedly also some 800gr more than the 02 , which puts it within 100gr of a Shiver

And here Ive been holding out for a 03 SuperT . Guess I might as well go looking for a 170mm Shiver , but theyre hard to come by , and not made for 03 ( at least no mentioning of them at Marz. site )
Bummer
You want to run a Super T, and worry about 1.8 lbs?Locoman

I'm not trying to flame you, I'm just trying to understand this.

Someone that runs a Super T, usually isn't such a gram counter. The weight difference that puts you over the edge is 100grams or .22 lbs?

up trails, and aren't using a chairlift on some ski hill, 1.8 Ibs is a huge
thing to worry about. ESPECIALLY on the fork which also affects how
difficult it is to do a wheelie and loft the front wheel over obstacles.
No I dont worry about the weight.... (more)cman

Bike is closed 40lbs as is .
Thats why Im now looking for a 170mm Shiver instead of the 03 SuperT.
As the 03 superT is less then 100gr lighter than a Shiver , but 5mm
LONGER (axel-crown , acc manual) than the 170mm Shiver , I figure I might as well get the Shiver (if I can find one)
Cheers
I guess nobody knows, except Marzocchi.Dolph
