| Which fork: Fox forx Vanilla 125R OR a Sherman Flick? | sc ryda Jan 7, 2003 2:12 PM | | I have narrowed my search down to these two forks for my Chameleon. As for features, the Flick appears to have the advantage, with adjustable travel (110mm to 130mm), reverse arch, and external compression damping.
On the other hand, the Fox has its good reputation. It's pretty much guaranteed to perform well. But I would really make good use of the Flick's adjustable travel feature. The only worry I have about the Flick is the seals it uses. I know pretty much all older manitou seals have been known to blow. But they are supposed to have been vastly improved for 2003.
Basically, all I want is some evidence that the seals will hold and I'll be sold on the Flick. |

When changed to the 110 mode, the fork will feel quite stiff, once switched to the 130mm, it will feel super plush, and chances are you'll never change it. I have a black elite 100/120, and I dont see myself changing to 100, it becomes considerably harsh. I wouldn't pick the flick over the fox for the travel adjustment. If you want a stronger fork that can take alot of abuse, maybe the manitou is the way to go, but for overall performance, can't beat a fox. |

And in regard to the original question, I'm coming up on five months and the seals, as well as everything else, are holding just fine. |
| I've only ridden the Fox.... | gra$$ya$$ Jan 7, 2003 7:44 PM | | I have an 02 Fox Vanilla RLC and it truely is a great fork.
Mine a a slightly annoying compresion spike on hard hits but I hear they've fixed this for 03...
my 2 cents worth |
