| Rockshox U - Turn. | DWS Jan 8, 2003 10:00 AM | | I've read on the website that u shouldn't turn the u-turn knob past 125mm of travel (psylo sl), otherwise can damage the mechanism. What I would like to know is when you turn the u-turn adjuster knob to 125mm, is there resistance after you reach 125, or does it spin endlessly? Dont want to ruin a new fork.
How about the compression lockout, is it the same deal? Also, is triflo lube spray good for the seals?
Thanks in advance. |

If you took the fork apart, you'd see the bottom of the spring anchored to the slider, with a plastic bit inside the spring and a shaft running through to the knob. That plastic bit is what you're turning when you turn the knob. It travels up and down the spring to adjust travel, the spring is wound very tightly at the top and bottom, it won't go any further without damaging some part of that assembly. The spring and UTurn is a complete assembly, if you break any part, you've got to replace the enitre thing. As far as the compression damping knob goes, its similar in that if you force it past the limits, you will do damage to the internals. TriFlow may or may not be good for the seals, it depends on the rubber and oil. You can lightly spray the stanctions with TriFlow and then wipe 'em down - that does a decent job at cleaning 'em and doesn't leave any significant residue. RockShox is going to reccomend either the RedRum or shock oil to lube the bushings. |

The compression damper knob has a little knob on the side that should keep you from turning it too far. IF it's installed right. If not, you could turn that one too far and possibly cause some damage to the needle. The service manual tells how to install the knob correctly after servicing the damper.
