As you can see I like the Z1's. A five inch fork that I can drop to 2 inches in the flick of a lever is absolutely perfect for my riding. I mainly ride trails that have lots of steep climbs and switchbacks and rough, rocky, rooty downhills. I dont know why the other companies cant seem to put a fork out that competes with the Z1 with extension control. The new Talas may be the closest thing, but we'll have to see I guess. I also really like the new Marathon S with dual coil springs 4" of travel and ETA. I have a feeling that is going to one of the best forks out this year.

Jan 8, 2003 11:40 PM | | One beefy 140mm inverted travel dual crown fork on a steel hardtail. Not exactly light weight, but it just rips in the technical. Awesome fork, btw. I'm excited to see that Magura is going to market them in North America this year. Chromed Steel stanctions, triple bolt lower crown, lots of slider overlap = SOLID. Like all inverted forks, it's a little twitchy in the slow creekbed type stuff, but stiff as a steel beam at speed. |
