| Manitou | mtbnut Jan 9, 2003 11:11 AM | | Does anyone know the differnece between the Manitou SX vs. the SX-R. The SX-R stands for race but is one coil while the other is just elastomers. |
| But isn't the big difference... | TNC Jan 9, 2003 5:04 PM | | that the SX-R has an adjustable rebound damper in it, and the plain SX doesn't? I won't swear to this, but check the Answer site and go back to that year model and see if that's not the case. |
| But isn't the big difference... | Adam Jan 9, 2003 6:47 PM | | I believe the SX-R has TPC+ damping ( or at least TPC)..while the SX has TPC sport. |
| Yup the difference is in the damper... | Squash Jan 10, 2003 4:06 AM | | The SX used the non-adjustable TPC Sport damper, the SX R used the TPC and eventually the TPC + adjustable damper. Both forks were used coil/elastomer spring stacks. And later on both forks came with the micro lube system. The only difference between the two was the damper.

| Depends on model year | PBK Jan 10, 2003 8:30 AM | | I have a 99 SX with full TPC, Microlube, alu steerer and a short spring and two elastomers.
I also have a 00 SX with TPC sport, Microlube, alu steerer and a long spring plus one elastomer. Both are OEM forks.
AFAIK the 99 models were pretty similar, especially in terms of adjustment, maybe the materials were slightly different. The comments from the guys above apply to 00 model year forks. |
