I have a (2002?) RockShox Duke XC that has a tweaked crown and steerer tube. The sliders and the legs are fine. I'd hate to scrap the whole thing if I can fix it. Does anyone know where I can find a crown and steerer tube (1 1/8) assembly that can be used to replace the tweeked one?
RS Crown/Steerer/Stanchion assemblies are...Squash

just that, a press fit assembly that cannot be replaced separately. The steerer tube and stanchion tubes are press fit into the crown. The fit is so tight that removing steerer or stanchions usually results in damage to the crown. RS does not recommend removal of steerer or stanchions from a crown and pressing in new, and will not perform the operation. It is better, and safer to just replace the whole assembly. That's besides, if you hammered the fork hard enough to tweak the crown and steerer, the stanchions are most likely damaged as well even if you can't see it.

To get a new steerer/crown/stanchion assembly you'll need to go to your RS dealer and have them order you one. That or find someone that has a set that they will sell you. It won't be cheap, you're looking at $100.00 plus a little. I am not aware of anyplace online that sells crown asseblies, but you might want to try out fits that are actually bike shops that sell online and not just some big warehouse, like Speed Goat and some others. They may be willing to order in the part and then ship it to you.

You can certainly replace the crown assembly. Just be aware that there may be hidden damage to internal parts as well. Depends of course on how the crown and steerer got tweaked in the first place. I'd deffinately have the bushings, seals and lowers checked out before I reused them.
