has anyone installed a bar-mounted remote lockout switch for a fox rear shock? just wondering if it's an easy job. and more improtantly, if it's a decent product.

I was reading Mountain Bike Action (or was it Mountian Bike?) and they review Fox's remote lock-out in the current issue. They didn't like it. They referenceed the Cannondale version, and said it was better. Their comments were that the switch was too hard to find, and when it was set at any easy to use level, rough trails caused the remote lever to move and activate the lock-out.

I've never used it though, so I can't confirm or deny.

I can tell you that it is not an easy job, but worth it. I have a Cannondale kit that I am willing to sell for $50.00 complete. (shipped in US) 1(907) 243-0568 Damion
Not an easy task, especially with gripshift.working

Hello,

Since I'm living just over a bike shop, I can tell you that FOX remote lock-out is not easy to install !

Moreover, if you have gripshift, or if you have a Specialized FSR, don't install it, unless you find someone that has successfully done the installment.

Fox will certainly remedy to those problems.

hi
I tried the old fox lock out unit. shifting force required was real high, the shifter itself wasnt very comfy, an even worse moved on its own. the new fox lockout has been completely redesigned, u can lock out either, box front + rear @ the same time. or either shock, the shifter also looks @ lot more ergonomic.
apparently the lockout assembly works well with the old suntour xc pro thumbshifter!

thanks

works great. Install it backwards. I set it up so the natural lever position is in the unlocked (shock will move) position and push it up to lock it. Use good cable too. It is a pain in the ass and took some time to get it right. be careful not too strip the screws.

Let me know if you want pix, I can take some with the digital.

2002 Santa Cruz Superlight is what I put it on. I like it a lot, but don't use it except for fire roads and double track.
