Manitou Black 80/100 advice needed...kokothemonkey

A buddy of mine bought a bike with this fork on it. First, how do you tell if it's a comp or elite? Second, where can you buy the stiffer spring setup, he's bottoming it out riding around in the back yard (big suprise), third, I downloaded the manual and it seems pretty easy to change the springs and it looks like there is only a spring in the left leg, is this true, can anyone give advice on this?

TIA as always,
koko

It should say what model it is on one of the leg castings. If not, look inside the damping leg to see if it's TPC Plus (Elite) or just Fluid FLow (Comp). Download the manuals from www.answerproducts.com to see illustrations of each model. The left leg holds the spring, and the right leg holds the damping rod for both models.

You can have your LBS order the stiffer springs from Answer. Again, look up the Manitou manual for the part number of the spring you want. Shouldn't cost more than $20.
