Headshok Moto FR(5 posts)

Headshok Moto FRDarko

Hi,
I have bought a second-hand Cannondale Moto FR fork, recently. Just for curiosity, I measured the travel and I was unpleasantly surprised: the real travel of the fork was only 80 mm, although the declared plush travel is 100 mm. The distance between the stanchion tubes and the lower stanchion is 120 mm, 40 mm of which takes the rubber boot. I wander if I was cheated by the seller, or is this a kind of special edition of fork with less travel, or what?
THX, Darko

Sorry, Iforgot to mention that I measured the travel on the damping side of the fork.

Total travel is near 100mm. The negative spring will "subtract" from the actual travel as well as a bottom out bumper on the under side of the dampers top cap.

Hedshok'r, thanks for the answer. Well, the previous owner said (I called him yesterday) that the cartridge was changed and it was replaced with bigger one. He also mentioned something about 120 mm of travel?? He did not knew exactly what was done on the fork. Perhaps, if he (at the dealer's mechanic office) replaced the original cartrige with the bigger cartrige (probably for MOTO 120), the result in smaller travel (20 mm bigger cartrige = 20 mm less space for travel)?

There is only one damper that will fit into the FR and that's the 100mm damper. The Moto 120 damper will not fit into the FR; the threads are different. There are a couple of things you can do to the damper to get a couple of mm's more out of them. Honestly, you're probably getting all of the travel that you *are* going to get.
