Z5 100 = 80mm travel?(4 posts)

Z5 100 = 80mm travel?SteveB2

I have a 2001 Marzocchi Z5 100 with what appear to be the red springs (~180lb rider) inside. I'm 145lbs and am only getting about 80mm of travel. Is this all I can get out of this fork?

The current spring rate is a little stiff for me but I could live with it, unless dropping down to the white springs (145lbs-180lbs rider) would give me the "missing" travel.

What do you think? I've set oil height around 45mm and changed to 5wt already.

What about switching one side to air?
Thanks.

The red "heavy" springs are way too stiff for your weight. You need to get the mediums. You should get full travel with mediums.

Get the softer springs and you'll enjoy the full travel of your fork.

Getting the right spring is something that many lighter riders overlook. You'll enjoy the fork more.
Thanks - lighter springs ordered (nm)SteveB2
