200+ lb Rider- Vanillas Spring Rates?Chas Spaz

I just pruchased a 19" Jamis XLT. I'm a 200 - 210 lb rider. I've called FOX about suggested spring rates for my Vanillas, front and rear, and have gotten a different answer the 2 times I called.

For the front the 125mm Vanillas come stock with a 25 lb spring. I was able to set sag with the preload avbout half way in, but am riding it with the preload turned all the way in so I won't bottom on everything. I've been told I should definitely use a 45 lb (yellow) spring, and also have been told that I am actually between springs and could use either the 35 lb (green) or 45 lb spring. Anybody have feedback for me?

The Jamis came with a 500 lb x 2.3 spring (2.24" travel). I have the shock preloaded in 3 3/4 turns. FOX says not to preload over 2 turns or the spring will bottom befor the shock and possible break the shock mounting bolt or blow the end of the shock off. One guy told me 500 lbs would be fine and maybe I would want to move up to a 550 lb spring. The other guy told me that the spec for my weight was actually 700 lbs!!? I figured I'd split the difference and go for 600 lbs, but would like to know if anyone with a 4 bar, 2.25 stroke vanilla had any advice.

Thanks
Chas
