|   Tracer w/ Romic Ti...(bike porn) | []D[][]v[][]D
May 21, 2003 7:42 PM | | Finally after two months I got my Romic w. Ti spring. I have two rides on the Romic (w/ steel shock) and my initial impression had been posted a couple days ago and is reposted below. I have weighted the shock and it comes in at 1 lbs.....1.03 lbs on a digital mail scale in my office. I have not yet weighed it w. the spring nor have I weighed the Fox Float it replaced but I plan to do so.
My review:
My first impression of the Romic vs. a Fox Float Air shock it is that it really reacts much better to chatter bumps and smaller impacts...more "supple" is a word you could use to describe it. I recently put one on a Tracer and am still playing with it but I can say I already enjoy it more. It sucks up the few bigger hits I put on it and the rear of my Tracer has a more solid feel. Climbs just as well if not better than the Float and I feel no need for a lockout. It is stable for sure. My only gripe is the rebound and its only that I haven't found a setting to my liking yet....again I've only been on it for ahbout 2 hrs. The weight penalty issue which had me concerned enough to by a Ti spring is not an issue. I been riding with a steel spring and the bike does not ride as if it were a lbs. heavier. |

The Ti spring cost me an additional $150. I have not ridden the Vanilla but most people here have posted good reviews. I can only compare the Romic to the Float air shock that i never liked..... |
