| Life expectancy of dual crown with use of... | Jason3559 May 22, 2003 9:16 AM | | ...this technique?
Heard from a riding buddy that he has friends in another state that ride mostly dual crown forks. During the climbs they take a Nylon tie down, attach to the fork legs and first crown, and compress the fork down to reduce the hight of the front end. Basically a homemade Marzocchi travel reduction technique. My question is, what factors should be considered while doing this? Would this be at all harmful to the fork internal components? How about the forces from this technique degrading fork leg/bottom crown integrity? Does anyone do this and have a favorable history doing so? My first impression would be that this couldn't be good for the bottom crown, but without long term experience or testing data, I can't say for sure. |
| the only worry.... | zedro May 22, 2003 2:47 PM | | is maybe the lower leg arch if your using it for the tie down. The lower crown and internals wouldnt be harmed at all IMO. But really if your only using it for climbs and your not getting harsh rebound action, it might not do any harm.
But i do think the whole thing is really silly ;) |
