Axle-to-crown length: F80RLT, Skareb Super, Sid SL??? (2 posts)
| Axle-to-crown length: F80RLT, Skareb Super, Sid SL??? | spume May 22, 2003 9:28 AM | | I ride an '02 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR XC Pro that came with a Sid SL. I love the bike, but I think I would be better served with another fork. One that is more rigid and perhaps has a little more travel than the Sid (which doesn't seem to get a full 80mm). I like the light weight and the lockout of the Manitou Skareb super, and I hear it is more rigid than the Sid. I know the Fox Float RLT is a very rigid fork, and it also has a lockout. It is a little heavier than I would like, but if it is the top lightweight 80mm trail riding fork I might go that way.
I really don't want to raise the front end of my bike with a longer (axle-to-crown) fork. I know the Fox forks are fairly short, but I don't know about the Manitou Skareb Super. If anyone knows the lengths of these three forks, can you tell me what they are or how they compare? |

Sid SL
-at 63mm- 434mm
-at 80mm- 451mm
Fox- 80mm - 450mm
i got these numbers from techs at the companies. I kinda surprised me that rock shox & Fox are essentially the same. I think a Marzocchi fork was 454mm or so. a little longer.
I wouldn't really worry about the axle to crown length. Its a couple millimeters. some forks sag more than others. so sag prolly is more of a consideration than straight axle to crown. just get the one you like the best. I had to worry because my frame is was not designed to
go around an 80mm fork, a 63mm it was and there's not to many of those around anymore. |
