| Ist ride on TALUS R | Travis Bickle May 22, 2003 2:34 PM | | Thanks to Larry Mettler I had my 1st ride on my new TALUS R yesterday on a local trail that is all rocks and roots. Set the sag and played with rebound and I was off. I was very impressed with the stiffness, plushiness, and damping. It did seem coil like and kept the front connected and tracking straight through the crazy rock garden. Not all was good though, on the way back to the trail head was one last 18" drop which I normally just roll over with no drama. I was feeling cocky and took a slightly different line, the front wheel hit a baby head, maybe my butt wasn't back far enough and them bam I'm listening to the horrible sound of the helmet foam breaking apart. A scraped nose, bloody knee and a stiff neck was the damage but I'm still very impressed with the fork. |
| quality suspension, greater confidence, but higher risk | derby May 23, 2003 12:13 PM | | I've noticed I've gained more confidence with every upgrade in suspension quality. But even though I don't think I wreck anymore (very rarely), the wrecks are bigger when they do happen. I guess the greater confidence of making what I feared before puts me into higher risk situations.
I hope to get that Talas-R fork soon too. But maybe I should get some matching armor to go with it!
