| Marz MX Comp ETA 80mm not staying locked... | Khayman May 22, 2003 8:22 PM | | I recently bought a new Kona Kula with the Marz MX Comp ETA and I'm having some issues with the ETA. I'm completely new to Marz forks and especially to the ETA. I've only logged about 3 hours on the bike so far, but during each ride I've noticed the fork won't stay locked. After about 1-2 miles the fork slowly climbs back to full extension. Just so there is no confusion, I'm talking about it releasing all the way back to *FULL* extension; I know it is just reduced to 30mm of travel or so when locked. I'm talking about the thing releasing all the way back to full 80mm of travel. Basically after a few miles(at best) it's back up to full extension, so when I flip the ETA lever, at best the fork extends the last tiny bit to full.
I picked up the Marz pump for adding air pressure to the fork and it was within the acceptable range for my weight (180lbs) when I checked it. On my last ride, I upped the PSI to just about the high end for my weight and it seemed to stay locked out a little longer, but still it released after a few miles. So basically I'd like to know what the deal is. Is this supposed to happen? I mean I thought the thing was supposed to stay locked until you flipped the lever? Is it normal for it to creep back to full extension after riding? My first 3 rides have been on completely flat terrain, I'm more or less just riding on the road. By the way, my friend has the exact same fork and he says his is doing the same thing.
If anybody has some insight on this fork and my situation, please feel free to share. I'm desperate to find out if I'm doing something wrong or if this is just how it is with this fork? So far Marz's website support has been completely worthless.
Thanks,
Andy |
