Put wrong weight oil in my fork!!Chachi

I just did some routine service to my RS Psylo and I relaized that I put in 15 wt. oil in staed of the RS recommended 5 wt. Obviously the fork feels a lot firmer but will i damage it if I decide to take it for a ride. Also, will any old 5 wt. oil do or do I need a special kind / brand??

... 15wt oil in there. Since it's "thicker", it could have difficulty moving quickly enough through the dampener, causing excessive pressure and possibly resulting in a blown seal or damaged dampener. I'd suggest changing the oil before you ride it, but I'm cautious by nature.

As far as what oil to use, I'd recommend a good quality fork oil such as Bel-Ray, Golden Spectro, Silkolene, etc. which should be available at your local motorcycle shop.
NOT!!!...15w oil is perfectly fine in your Psylo....Squash

As a matter of fact RS recommends it as a tuning option if you want to get more damping out the system. The only problem that you may have is that it may afford too much damping. Some thing that you have to think about. Anyway, 5w, 10w, and 15w fork oil is just fine for your fork. You may want to turn your damper all the way down and see how it works and adjust from there. 15w is quite a jump from the stock 5w. But if you like the way the fork rides it will NOT hurt the fork to run with it.

If you have a psylo with pure damping, I'm almost certain that anything but 5wt will seriously mess things up. I think it's fine for the other models. Then again, if it's a 2003, I think the Hydra Coil 2 damping needs a specific weight oil. Best bet would be to go to RS's web site or call them

they said no problem...as long as the the oil level is correct (10 cc), you can use anything from 5 to 15 wt. Fork is a 2002 Psylo Race
